WHGS Harris House at Hardraw

So you want to find out more about Hardraw ?

Were you intrigued by Phil's talk about previous years ?

Well read on or download Phil's presentation here.

Hardraw is about 2 hrs from Manchester in the Yorkshire Dales. It is owned by William Hulme Grammar School and is called Harris House.

Many Astronomical societies use the facilities as it is a dark sky, with sufficient accomodation for people and equipment.

It is close by to Hawes, and there are several day-time activities whilst preparing for the evening to roll on and the telescopes and binoculars to appear, and hopefully cloudless skies!

Its a communal affair with everyone helping with cooking, washing up and generally having a great time. For those that don't wish to stay in Harris House itself, there are nearby alternative accomodation, however we need the contibution to the hiring of Harris House for the food, heating and electricity.

The cost at present is set at £45 per person to cover the two nights, and all the food. We can cater for any particular diet requirements given notice. There is a minimum group charge of £300 for the booking of Harris House itself, which is why we need to have the deposit before the January meeting, preferably at the December meeting, and we need a minimum of 10 people to make the event viable.

Finally, when is the great time to be had, well in January - arriving on the evening of Friday 22nd and leaving on Sunday 24th.
