Welcome to 2010 Session
at Wythenshawe Park Observing Club
by Sarah Arrangements for 2010This year we will be observing throughout the year and will be from 6pm onwards until 9pm at the Classroom behind the Horticultural Centre. Rather than a set night like last year, we will arrange these sessions monthly on Tuesdays. We are aiming to create a room for Astronomical Education as part of an outreach program helped by Volunteers within the community. Please come with ideas, suggestions, knowledge and time. Young people and children welcome but only with parents please. I hope to see you all again this year and continue to learn and enjoy the night sky together. Sarah (Club Champion) Review of 2008-09 sessionsWe had a poor year for stargazing opportunities. Overall, we only had 2 good sessions all year. This is partly why we are changing the format this year and running the club more informally to take advantage of clear nights. Although we had a disappointing year, we did end the season on a high. Our last session in March was a clear night and we saw Saturn with several of its moons, we saw the orion nebula and we saw a crescent Venus. We also saw a few different constellations. This was a very rewarding evening after all the cloudy nights. Sarah (Club Champion) Contact Information
