Meeting comments by the Society Committee, and then follows Jeff's talk.

Fourth of our society meetings for the year, and we welcome, to our Christmas meeting, the brilliant Jeff Forshaw.

The Committee will open the meeting outlining our events.

Prof. Jeff Forshaw from the University of Manchester, co-author of the Universal: A Journey Through the Cosmos and it was published by Penguin in September 2016.

'Inspirational' said Buzz Aldrin, what a recommendation!

Jeff Forshaw is Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Manchester, specializing in the physics of elementary particles. He was awarded the Institute of Physics Maxwell Medal in 1999 for outstanding contributions to theoretical physics. He has co- written an undergraduate textbook on relativity and is the author of an advanced level monograph on particle physics.

West Didsbury Astronomical Society was formed to bring people together who have an interest in Astronomy.

If you are into astronomy and you're in the Manchester (UK) area come and meet other local astronomers.

Everyone is welcome from the complete beginner to the more experienced astronomer.

There are regular meetings during the year and ad hoc observing sessions.

Meetings are usually held on the second Monday of every month - except in August - at:
William Hulme's Grammar School, Spring Bridge Road, Manchester, England M16 8PR
